Can't wait until spring camp begins. Starters:
QB. Toman RB. Kackert, Jellison WR. Mason, Wright Slot. Fox TE Sicko OL Neil, Larkin, Elmore, Lane, Couturier.
Also in the mix: Negron, Howard, Orlando, Mohammed.
Biggest question mark: OL starters besides Neil and Larkin.
Defense:
FS. McGuinness CB. Vasso, Hinds LB. Ware, Jackson SS. Souza Dl. Young, Taylor DE Peters, Maroney
In the mix: McNally, Vines, Ruhl, Klein
Kicker: Manning Punter: ?
Biggest question mark: Who will punt? Who will be the third LB?

I read an article the other day that mentioned that this year is the first year of coach Mac's tenure at UNH that he was able to red shirt all of his freshman recruits. I had no idea it was such an issue in the past. Anyways, i'm very excited to see what the new talent can bring to the table. From descriptions of last years recruiting class, it seems we have some very solid talent waiting to contribute. Also, what is the deal with that transfer from Mississippi State? I didn't even notice we had a transfer until half way through the season. Did he get red shirted this season? Also what is Chris Chandler's status?
Some new players i'm looking forward to seeing: Kenny Howard Alan Buzbee Joey Orlando Tyler Sargent Dontra Peters

Isn't Jordan Long expected to be a starter on the DL next season? I've also heard that there are high expectations for Chris Zarkoskie,Alan Busbee's HS teammate, on the OL.Speaking of the DL,I didn't realize until later that Steve Young didn't play against UNI,and it seemed like Dino Vasso was missing as well in the secondary.

Some other names that come to mind are Vines,Murray,Jeannot,Mangieri, and Mailloux.I know Matt O'brien was out for most, if not all of this season, and is listed as a senior.Does anyone know if he had previously red shirted? If not, he could add a lot of versatility to the offense if he chose to return.

unhfan1 said that he was wondering who would be playing in the 3rd LB slot.I'll go out on a limb and say Alan Busbee will be that player.I also can't wait for Spring drills, and before that the new signings announcement in February.Crazy, isn't it? This FCS season is still being played out,and we're already thinking and speculating about the `09 version of The Cats.

I think its because we all see the upside and potential of next years team & beyond. With the level of recruits that keep coming, its hard not to get excited. If only we had a new stadium to look forward to.

I'm not sure if you have some inside sources with your projections or not (sure seems so with Zarkoskie), but I don't think Kevon Mason is particularly in favor with the coaching staff, as he barely saw the field in the second half of the season.
If Chris Chandler is recovered from his knee injury, he'll play a major role in the team's success at WR. I'd suspect he'll start along with Fox and Wright, with Mason, Mangieri, Orlando and Negron also seeing time. I'd absolutely like to see a lot of double TE sets with Jeannot and Sicko, because those two are both big and rangy.
Larkin, Neill and Elmore will almost definitely start, and Lane and Zarkoskie are good guesses. I would also think that Seth Price might step in at T if he's big enough.
Have to think Klein starts ahead of McGuiness for now. I actually think the other R-FR LB (was it Matt Evans?) was more impressive than Buzbee, but both should see time. Perhaps Petercuskie will play a bit, too. Plenty of depth everywhere, just need the OL to mesh.

I'm thinking that Alan Buzzbee will see significant time next year at LB and wonder if James Jenkins will see time at LB or is he being groomed for DE?
Your comment about the signing announcement and Spring Practice reminded me of a comment made by a newspaper writer when he saw a bunch of us tailgating (and grilling) at this year's Spring Game (a very raw, drizzly day). Something like UNH Football has really moved into a different world if there is tailgating for the Spring Game on such a lousy day.
Yeah 46rcny, I too anxiously await signing day and Spring practice. Not crazy, just what any hard core football fan does!!

IIRC, Matt O'Brien was out due to concussions and his career is over.

From what I read/heard Steve Young was out for the UNI game due to concussions. Let's hope he hasn't had too many and can return next year. What an anchor to build your DL around and he's a NH kid.
Dino Vasso got hurt during the first half of the game at UNI.

Yes, Matt Evans is a LB, but he is now a true freshman just like Buzzbee.
Not sure about Klein over McGuinness because Ryan has played the safety role already. Hasn't Terrance's experience so far been at corner back or that hybrid spot we utilize?
Agree that there is plenty of talent and depth. That's got to be the reason that no true freshmen played this year. Although we could probably still add some numbers to the OL.
And yes getting the OL to mesh is probably the key to the 2009 season.

Offense, I think the key is the OL next year and how they jell. I think Chandler could be a solid contributor . I want to see Kenny Howard get some action. Were is Dontra Peters playing offense or defense? I would like to see him as a receiver. We need some speed to stretch the field. Defensively, Buzbee looks like a good addition to LB core or a rush DE, with experience Jackson and Ware at LB, I think McGuiness moves into FS very well replacing Clements, he has played well and has shown some good stuff . Klein would move into the hybrid LB/ Safety spot as a starter vacant by Duper . It should make for a nice season.

Seth Price will start at Left Tackle next year. He weighs about 285 which is more than enough at this level. Look for him to be a force on this revamped line next year.

Does Sean Ware have two more years of eligibility or just one? I don't really understand (too lazy to look it up) the eligibility rules. He was red-shirted in 2005 and missed all of 2007 recovering from knee surgery.

He's listed as a junior on this year's roster so I've assumed that he has one more year of eligibility. I think UNH would have to request an exception to get around the five year rule. He'll only have played three years in five though AFAIK. But I don't begin to understand the eligibility rules that well to know whether he could apply for another year. Love to see him play two more years though!!!
